Two Rivers Community School Progress
Update - January, 2014
Hello Two Rivers Supporters,
We are excited to share that the Two Rivers Team is making solid progress towards its 2014 opening! Since gaining approval last summer, members of the Two Rivers team have been working diligently to address the necessary conditions included in Colorado Charter School Institute’s (CSI) approval. Last week, the CSI staff and board overwhelmingly determined that the TRCS team had successfully addressed the required conditions. The Two Rivers team is now focusing its efforts on the Colorado Department of Education New School Start Up Grant that is due in mid-February, and securing our selected facility. Attaining both of these is essential for a 2014 opening and we feel confident that we will be successful.
In the next few weeks we will be ramping up our volunteer recruitment efforts and our fundraising campaign. You can expect more frequent updates from our team, more detailed information about our progress, and more publicity overall. Full enrollment packets will be ready soon and available on the website. Our target enrollment for year one is 164, growing to full capacity of 225 students over the next five years. If demand exceeds space, a lottery will be held in mid-April.
Also, we are in the process of officially changing our name to Two Rivers Community School. This change is due to the necessary pivot away from Expeditionary Learning towards Project and Place Based Learning. For more information on Project and Place Based learning, please visit the Links section. We will keep you posted on how our name change impacts our email and website address so future communication remains smooth.
Thank you for your continued support!
